We made Vokis! Vokis are animated digital avatars that speak. They can either speak with a digitized computer voice, or they can speak with your own voice. This one has my voice that was recorded over a phone call. I'm not sure if you can tell, but my Voki asks if you like the columnar basalts in the background. I love them and so does my Voki. I personally think Vokis are a bit creepy, but I can see how kids would have a blast with something like this. The nice thing is, if a kid is afraid to public speak, they could have their Voki give their speech for them! And not only that, but when preparing a presentation or some kind of project, I understand that the kids get so carried away with their Vokis, that they end up spending a lot more time on research for the project than they normally would without the fun tool. Although, here is my other criticism. This would be uber fun for middle school kids for sure and maybe even early high school or elementary school kids. However, chances are I will be teaching juniors and seniors in high school Chemistry. I am not confident that 18-year-olds would find this entertaining. Nonetheless, it is a tool to keep in my techno belt.
