Edmodo - Designed similar to the popular social media sites, Edmodo features user-friendly discussion posts, assignments, polls, quizzes and a great resource connecting to other teachers
Piazza - This LMS is best used for discussions; may act as a wiki
Haiku - Great for making comprehensive websites for classes; can post announcements, assignments, quizzes, instructional resources, and it even comes with a Gradebook feature to keep track of student grades
Edmodo. Similar to social networking.
Present
Voice Thread - Creates a wall of audio in which classmates record their thoughts and they are posted to a wall; great alternative to the classic discussion board.
Prezi - My favorite way to present. A new take on PowerPoint, embedding video, pictures, and text into creative and inspiring templates. Utilizes zoom and movement to create emphasis.
Voki - For those who are afraid of public speaking, these little avatars do the speaking for you. A creative way for kids to get talking about what they know.
Wikispaces - Create your own Wiki here. Great for posting lesson plans, creating webquests, or class collaboration, wikis are all about improvement.
Glogster - Similar to Prezi except this is more like an alternative to creating a poster rather than a PowerPoint. Lots of different media can be embedded into a Glogster.
Organize
Blendspace - A visual way to create a list of links. Comes with multiple search engines (the best being YouTube) and creates a screenshot of your link in a grid, then opens the link within the program for viewing.
Scoop.it - The ultimate curation website. Clean and simple, organizes information on a topic which is distributed to you like a magazine.
Pinterest - LOVE Pinterest. So many great ideas on the Internet have found a home. Anything can be pinned to one of your custom pinboards. In my opinion, the new social bookmarking.
Pinterest. The new Social Bookmarking.
My favorite sites :-)
TED talks - Can't get enough of TED talks. Brilliant minds, sharing great ideas, for free! Amazing for sparking interest in a classroom. Check out the TED talks video below about the absolute necessity of creativity in education.
Edutopia - Great site for learning about what is happening on the research end of education. Good for keeping updated on education current events.
ISTE Standards - Those standards we all follow that are becoming more and more important. Standards that address the responsible and necessary use of technology in education today. Standards for students, teachers, and technology coaches.
