...Part II?
You know, when I was in second grade, I wrote a book. It was made up of three short stories, and the book was called Jamael's Shorts. The cover was a picture I drew of me at age 7 wearing some pretty snazzy shorts, and the subtitle said "Not those kind of shorts! Short stories!" Fifteen years later, I'm kind of doing a part two of Jamael's Shorts by starting this blog. Funny how things work out, huh?
So a little background about me:
I started college at Kent State University majoring in Geology, wanting to study the formation of gemstones. I later learned that my initial desire to study pretty rocks was really a premature passion for geochemistry and mineralogy. Before starting an Education degree, I had a quarter-life crisis. In my last year of college, I toyed with so many ideas of where I wanted to go with my life. I bought my first car (her name is Dolores), I got engaged, I got a job in civil engineering (and quickly learned it wasn't my path), I looked for Masters programs in the Midwest for Geology, I looked for PhD programs all over the country for Geology, I looked locally for Masters programs in Education... and the stress of not knowing where I would be in the next 5 to 10 years was literally overwhelming. All I knew was that whatever I was going to be doing, I wanted to teach. Whether that meant teaching third graders, high school, or university students, I wasn't quite sure. I landed on Middle School Math and Science; it was the best of both worlds. I get to teach, but I don't abandon my science background. Additionally, it was the option on my plate that excited me, and didn't send me into a panic attack! I still hope to get a PhD in the future, but for now, I wanna be called Mrs. Szucs!
